APPLE-FILLED ACORN SQUASH
INGREDIENTS
1 can (21 oz.) apple pie filling
2 medium acorn squash
1 can (21 oz.) Apple Pie Filling
2 tbsp. sherry (optional)
Dash of onion powder
Dash of seasoned salt
Dash of ginger
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sliced almonds
4 brown and serve sausages
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400° F.
Half each squash and discard seeds.
Place cut side down in large baking dish and add 1/2 inch of water. Bake at 400° F for 25 minutes.
Turn squash cut side up and sprinkle with onion powder, seasoned salt and ginger, and dot each half with 1/2 tbsp. butter. Place one sausage in each squash.
Mix apple pie filling with sherry and fill squash cavities.
Cover with foil and bake at 350° F for 30 minutes or until squash is tender. Top with almonds and bake uncovered for five minutes.
