Applesauce Date Bars

These sweet and crunchy bars are delicious served with your favorite tea.


For 15 Serving(s)

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon(s) baking soda
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) cloves
  • 3 cup(s) applesauce
  • 2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 2 cups dates, chopped

Cooking time: 35m


  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Dissolve baking soda in apple sauce and add remaining ingredients.
  2. Bake in a 13" x 9" x 2" greased pan for 35 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cut into squares.
